TRAINING COURSES PERSONAL SURVIVAL TECHNIQUES COURSE (PST) Conducted in accordance with STCW guidelines and the approval of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency and the Merchant Navy Training Board. The course can be run on board ship or ashore, the "wet" session being undertaken at a suitable swimming pool, Liferafts, equipment, instructional films and student notes are provided. The course consists of lectures, films and practical exercises with liferafts. STCW 95 A -VI / 1-1 Acceptance UK MCA & Bahamas Maritime Authority Duration 1 day Instructor to Student ratio I : 8CERTIFICATE OF PROFICIENCY IN SURVIVAL CRAFT AND RESCUE BOATS (CPSC) Conducted in accordance with STCW guidelines and the approval of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency and the Merchant Navy Training Board. Undertaken on board (lectures and demonstrations on passage, practical boatwork whilst vessel alongside). May also be conducted at shore side locations with practical boatwork undertaken when ships are alongside. Courses consist of approximately 45 hours of instruction of which about 20 hours are lectures and films and 25 hours of practical boatwork This will include boat preparation and launching, boat handling including man-overboard exercises, and boat recovery. Candidates must have a valid PST (or equivalent) certificate and at least six months sea time. STCW 95 A -VI / 2 - l. Acceptance UK MCA & Bahamas Maritime Authority Duration 8 days including examination Instructor - Student ratio 1 : 10 SHORT LIFERAFT COURSE - Throw-over Liferaft Conducted with the acceptance of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency. An on board course using a liferaft supplied by ourselves, the course consists of a demonstration of liferaft equipment and its use, followed by an inflation of a liferaft on deck. SOLAS Chap III Reg. 18.4.2.1 Acceptance UK MCA & Bahamas Maritime Authority Duration 2 hours Instructor - Student ratio All available crew members - in practice 1 : 50 SHORT LIFERAFT COURSE - Davit Launched Liferafts Conducted with the acceptance of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency. An on board course using a liferaft supplied by ourselves, this course includes inflation of a liferaft on a davit and lowering to the water or onto the wharf.SOLAS Chap III Reg. 18.4.3 Acceptance UK MCA & Bahamas Maritime Authority Duration 2 hours Instructor Student Ratio All available crew members - in practice 1 : 50 SHORT LIFERAFT COURSE - Open Reversible Liferafts An on board or shore based course providing theoretical and practical training in the usage and handling of liferafts and attendant rescue boats. SOLAS Chap III Reg. 18.4.3 Acceptance UK MCA & Bahamas Maritime Authority Duration 2 to 3 hours Instructor Student Ratio All available crew members - in practice 1 : 50 EFFICIENT DECK HAND ( EDH -Fast passenger craft) Conducted in accordance with STCW guidelines and approval from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency. The course is available on board or shore based. It is designed to give Cabin-staff on fast passenger craft some basic seamanship skills to allow them to undertake the duties of a Deck Rating Grade 2. The training consists of theoretical and practical instruction over four days and assessment by examination on day 5. STCW 95 A II / 4 (and ILO certification of Able Seamen) Acceptance UK MCA & Bahamas Maritime Authority Duration 5 days (including examination) Instructor to Student ratio 1 : 10 Conducted in accordance with STCW guidelines and with the acceptance of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency. Courses may be run on board or ashore. Designed originally for hotel staff in passenger ships, the course teaches candidates the basic elements of fire prevention and the correct response if a fire is discovered. Practical instruction in the use of fire extinguishers is an element of this course. SOLAS Chap III 18.4.2.4 Acceptance UK MCA & Bahamas Maritime Authority Duration ½ day Instructor to Student ratio 1 : 10 Conducted in accordance with STCW guidelines and with the approval of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency. May be held on board or ashore. Designed to fulfil the requirements of the STCW code, seafarers are given knowledge of safety and accident prevention procedures and familiarisation with the working conditions and environment on board ship. STCW 95 A VI / 1-4. Acceptance UK MCA & Bahamas Maritime Authority Duration ½ day Instructor to Student ratio 1 : 25 MARITIME EMERGENCY DUTIES Conducted in accordance with STCW guidelines and with the acceptance of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency. This on board course consists of instruction in liferafts, personal survival, health and safety and practical exercises. UK M.S. (Musters &Training) Regulations 1986 Acceptance UK MCA & Bahamas Maritime Authority Duration I day Instructors 2 if crew is greater than 8 in number. Conducted in accordance with STCW guidelines with the acceptance of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency. Available on board, using the ships own rescue boat, or port based using our own rescue boat. The course consists of lectures and films followed by practical boat handling including man-overboard recovery, towing and marshalling of liferafts. High Speed Code & UK M.S. (Musters &Training) Regulations 1986 Acceptance UK MCA & Bahamas Maritime Authority Duration 1 ½ days Instructor to Student ratio 1 : 6 CROWD MANAGEMENT TRAINING COURSE Course developed to comply with Section A - V/2 of the STCW Code in respect of the additional training required for seafarers serving in passenger ships, the objective is to give personnel assisting passengers during an emergency, knowledge to aid them in helping and controlling the movement of passengers. STCW 95 A - V / 2 para 1 Acceptance UK MCA & Bahamas Maritime Authority Duration ½ day Instructor to Student ratio 1 : 20 CRISIS MANAGEMENT AND HUMAN BEHAVIOUR Course developed to provide seafarers with training in the organisation of emergency procedures. The optimum use of resources and controlling the response to the emergency. Human behaviour includes the control of passengers and the need for effective communications. STCW 95 A V / 2 para 5 Acceptance UK MCA & Bahamas Maritime Authority Duration day Instructor to Student ratio 1 : 10 ISM & STCW AWARENESS TRAINING This is a short presentation conducted on board or ashore to explain to seafarers what the ISM and STCW codes are and how to make use of the Codes to improve safety on board ship Duration 2 hours Instructor to Student ratio 1 : 10 |
